Maurice M. “Maurie” McDaniel, 97, passed away May 20, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. He was born March 13, 1918, in Warsaw, to Joseph and Cora Koser McDaniel. On April 29, 1940, in Wilmore, Ky., he married Hattie M. “Pat” Stidham, who died Aug. 17, 2003. He was a 1937 graduate of Atwood High School and a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County and a poultry farmer. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and a charter member of Atwood Lions Club. He was on the Kosciusko County Drainage Board and was awarded the Outstanding Citizen of Kosciusko County. He was grand marshal and honorary mayor of the Atwood Centennial Celebration. Surviving are two sons, John B. (and spouse Paula) McDaniel, Warsaw, and Bruce (and spouse Darcy) McDaniel, Loveland, Colo.; a daughter, Rebecca McDaniel, Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Wehrenberg, Libertyville, Ill. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Williams. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, with Pastor Denny Wilson, Warsaw Community Church, officiating.
