Maurice E. Morrison, 79, Leesburg, passed away at 12:10 a.m. Jan. 30, 2016, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
On Feb. 29, 1936, he was born in Pierceton to Walter and Irene Froh Morrison.
A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, he was former owner of Roto Rooter of Kosciusko County, where he served for 45 years.
He served our country in the U.S. Army Airborne for 10 years from 1955 to 1965, honorably discharged as a Sgt (E-5), and then served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve for 2-1/2 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Pierceton; Pierceton Masonic Lodge, F&AM 377, Scottish Rite, Fort Wayne Valley, Mizpah Shrine Temple, North Webster American Legion Post 253, Pierceton Volunteer Fire Department and Pierceton Police Department, where he served for 10 years.
He is survived by a son, Michael (and spouse Jenny) Morrison, Goshen; two sisters, Wanda (and spouse Charles) Thurman, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Connie Kehoe, Warsaw; four grandchildren: Emily, Amanda, Brian and Maureen Morrison; and his caregiver, Star Prout, North Webster. He was preceded in death by a son, Maurice Morrison II, and his brother, Carl Morrison.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Chaplain Bob Jarboe of Kosciusko County Homecare and Hospice officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, at a later date.
