LIGONIER – Matthew Tyler Mickem, 29, Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly April 9, 2016, at home. He was born Feb. 27, 1987, in Goshen, to Bert Mickem and Melissa Sroufe, who survive in Syracuse. He attended Wawasee Middle School and Fairfield High School. He was a huge Jeff Gordan fan and had passion for anything Pepsi. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Also surviving are a brother, Nathan (and spouse Chelsey) Mickem, North Webster; a sister, Cassidy (and Tim Loughlin) Mickem, Elkhart; and maternal grandparents, Herbert and Lorraine Lent. He was preceded in death by a stepfather, Jim Sroufe and grandparents, Albertis and Lula Mickem. A funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Yeager Funeral Home, Ligonier, with Pastor Harlan Steffen officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
