Mass Shootings

Editor, Times-Union:

Gary: Excellent commentary on mass shooting caused by guns. Thank you.

If I may, I’d like to take the dialog just a little further.

However, before I begin, I’d like to comment on the totally brainwashed lackey of the Washington Times, Eugene Robinson.  This ignorant oaf  has “never” published a favorable comment on anyone “white,” “conservative,” “Christian,” or “Republican” that I can recall.  I’m disturbed that he is allowed to take up space in the Times-Union or on earth, for that matter.  OK, that’s off my chest.

The constant hammering on “gun control” is offensive to me for a couple of reasons: 1) There are some 20,000 laws on guns in the United States.  Guns are inanimate objects, incapable of reason, thinking, decision making or taking action.  If, like in Africa, mass murders were committed with a machete, I presume we would be calling for the banning of all knives.  Or, if sufficient numbers of folks chose to beat others to death with a shoe, we would all be forced to go barefoot.  Automobiles and trucks are gaining popularity with the ISIS thugs; does this mean we must all revert to horses for transportation?

2) I have read several articles in the past several months that comment on the fact that all shooters since Columbine either were or had been on psychiatric drugs. I have attached one article (too long to dwell on in this letter) that I hope you will read and perhaps use portions of in future “views.”  This article pretty much debunks guns, violent media and mental health care as a cause for mass shootings.

3) With all the evidence pointing to increased gun ownership contributing to fewer crimes, it is bothersome that so many of the populace is willing to listen to politicians and mass media nitwits that jump on the bandwagon to blame guns for our problems. Thinking, reasoning and creative  problem solving have pretty much fallen by the wayside in our immoral, irresponsible, I’m-owed-everything society.

Sad and frightening times.
