A 17-year-old boy who fired a round of shots after an incident in Sidney pleaded guilty Monday to criminal recklessness.

The guilty plea was the result of an agreement reached between Stephen Mason, 17, of 707 W. Market St., Warsaw, and prosecutors.

In exchange for Mason's guilty plea of the Class D felony, charges of pointing a loaded firearm, a Class D felony, carrying a handgun without a license and dangerous possession of a firearm, both misdemeanors, were dropped.

On Oct. 8, 2007, Mason was arrested on two counts of criminal recklessness after he was involved in confrontations in Sidney and Pierceton.

During the Sidney incident, Mason confronted a group of teenagers with a crow bar.

In the Pierceton incident, Mason shot a round near one person's feet and attempted to pistol whip another.

Mason will be sentenced Feb. 18 at 8:30 a.m.
