Mary Naomi Tuttle, 91, Warsaw, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Jan. 17, 2015, in Grace Village Healthcare, Winona Lake. She was born Aug. 24, 1923, in Wabash County, to Joseph H. and Effie C. Ulrey Studebaker. On June 3, 1945, in South Whitley, she was united in marriage to Richard Gordon Tuttle, who preceded her in death Sept. 30, 2012. They had 67 years of marriage. She was a graduate of Larwill High School, class of 1941, and Wayne University of Beauty Culture College, Fort Wayne, in 1942. She formerly operated a beauty salon in Larwill and worked on the family farm for 40 years. She was a Sunday school teacher for several years at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, where she also played the organ and piano for church services and organized funeral dinners. She was a former 4-H leader for Kosciusko County 4-H and led the Pierceton Girls 4-H. In addition, she was a member of Gideon’s International. She loved music and was an avid gardener. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Whitesell, Warsaw, and Jayne St. Marie (and spouse James Mondello), Palm Beach, Fla.; a son, James (and spouse Virginia) Tuttle, Rochester Hill, Mich.; nine grandchildren: Richard and Alec Prentice; Michael, Jenny, Adam and Jackie Whitesell; Kristie Breitwieser; Lori Price; and Paula Olson; and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three brothers: Junior, Paul and Donald Studebaker. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
