SHELBYVILLE – Mary N. Dearinger, 96, of Shelbyville, passed away Nov. 9, 2012, in Heritage House Convalescent Center. She joined her husband and family at the gates of heaven.
She was born Oct. 2, 1916, in McKee’s Rock, Pa., to James and Ida Mae Sims McCroskey. On March 4, 1937, in Rush County, she married Herbert Malcolm Dearing, who preceded her in death.
She graduated from Arlington High School. It was through her best friend in school that she met her husband. She formerly worked at White’s Institute, Wabash, for 18 years and received an award for her dedicated service to children. She enjoyed reading her Bible, watching game shows, Lawrence Welk and “The Golden Girls,” crafting, especially crocheting and making windsocks. She attended Good Shepherd Methodist Church and was a member of West Eel River Brethren Church near Silver Lake.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen (and spouse Duane) Stout, Roann, and Gloria Reynolds, Kansas City, Kan.; a son, Dean Dearinger, Warsaw; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Homer, Lona Ray, Virgil and James Alvy; two sisters, Clara Ethel and Goldie; and triplet great-grandsons, Connor, Cogan and Casey Daugherty.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, with Jeremy Sweeten officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery.
