Mary Jane Evans, 94, Warsaw, died at 1:25 a.m. Jan. 5, 2012, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
She was born Nov. 29, 1917, in South Bend, to Harry and Dessie Newell Meredith. On May 11, 1944, in Warsaw, she married Walter Evans, who died Feb. 16, 1990.
A lifetime Warsaw resident, she was a homemaker and a 1935 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, since 1974. She loved to play games such as Scrabble and a variety of card games and enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and playing the piano. She was a highly respected lady , who was considerate, thoughtful and full of grace. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends Surviving are a son, Roger M. Evans, Warsaw; a granddaughter, Michelle “Shelley” Zimmerman, Noblesville; and a great-grandson, Jacob Zimmerman, Noblesville. She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Tom, Bill, Richard and Vernon Meredith, and a sister, Willodean Snow.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by the Rev. Dave Hummel of Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
