MENTONE – Mary Ellen Wise, 90, formerly of Burket, died at 3:26 a.m. Feb. 5, 2013, in Mason Health and Rehab, Warsaw. She was born July 25, 1922, in Miami County, to Richard M. and Gertrude Sunday Gray. On May 29, 1942, in Warsaw, she married Arthur C. Wise, who died Nov. 6, 1981. She was a homemaker and graduated from Akron High School. She attended Burket United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Burket Fireman Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary, Mentone. Surviving are a daughter, Colleen Wise, Warsaw; a son, Garry (and spouse Sandy) Wise, Mentone; a sister, Lois (and spouse Allen) Woolley, Akron; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two sons, Jarry and Larry Wise; a granddaughter; two sisters, Cora Katherine Benner and Vivian Spence; and six brothers, Richard O., Clifford, John W., Robert, William Edward and Garland “Bud” Gray. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Akron Cemetery with Pastor Terry Canfield officiating. Hartzler Funeral Services with King Memorial Home 101 N.
