COLUMBIA CITY – Mary Ellen Miller Roe, 54, Arcola, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Jan. 25, 2015, at her residence. She had fought and beat breast cancer from 2010 through December 2013, then fought brain cancer until God called her home. She was born April 30, 1960, in Fort Wayne, to Keith G. and Velma I. Gaff Miller. On Nov. 16, 1979, she married Donald R. Roe, who preceded her in death. She lived her childhood in Arcola, and after graduating from Carroll High School with the Class of 1978, she moved to the Warsaw area. She had worked at Serenade Foods Service in Milford for 26 years. She returned to Arcola in 2013, and was a member of the Arcola Methodist Church. She loved her friends and family and enjoyed crossword puzzles and old-time movies. Survivors include her sister, Martha (and spouse Gery) Keiser, Arcola; three brothers: Andy (and spouse Patsy) Miller, Pierceton; Dave Miller, Ishpeming, Mich.; and Tom Miller, Waynedale; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ruth I. Miller. Services will be at noon Thursday at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with Sharon Brockhaus officiating. Burial is in South Park Annex Cemetery.
