Mary Ellen Johnson, 94, Warsaw, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Sept. 1, 2015, in her residence while surrounded by her family. She was born June 16, 1921, in Huntington, to Carl C. and Virginia Mae Dowler Robinson. On Feb. 10, 1944, in Riverside, Calif., she married the love of her life, Ralph “Boag” Johnson, who preceded her in death July 11, 2005. She lived most of her life in Warsaw and was a secretary for Lucas Realty, retiring in 1982. She was a homemaker. She was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards and dominos with friends and family. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and sewing. She loved animals and her constant companion of the last 10 years was Pepper, her cat. Surviving are: three daughters, Jorie (and spouse Jim) Webster, Winona Lake; Kristine (and spouse Larry) Ummel, Kimmel; and Leslie (and spouse Ray) Barna, Vandalia, Mich.; a daughter-in-law, Kerry Johnson Kehoe, Winona Lake; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was also preceded in death by two sons, David R. Johnson, on Jan. 18, 1969, and Greg Johnson, on March 2, 2011; her parents, Carl and Virginia Robinson; and a sister, V. Carleen Folk, on May 15, 2004. A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Mike Beezley of Clunette United Methodist Church officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
