MENTONE – Mary E. Tucker Bucher, 98, rural Mentone, died at 11:55 a.m. March 23, 2015, at Grace Village Healthcare, Winona Lake.
She was born Oct. 28, 1916, in Claypool, to Cloyce and Roxie Parker Miller. On June 9, 1937, in Claypool, she married Edison C. Tucker, who preceded her in death Feb. 21, 1969. On Jan. 5, 1985, in Beaver Dam, she married C. Edward Bucher, who died July 27, 1998.
She worked at Tippecanoe Valley High School in the cafeteria for five years as well as being a wonderful homemaker, wife and mother. She was a Claypool High School graduate in 1934. She was a member of the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a great cook and enjoyed knitting. She loved to watch her family in all their sports activities, especially basketball.
Surviving are a daughter, JoAnn (and spouse Mike) Williams, Atwood; six grandchildren: Kim Nelson, Plymouth; Chad (and spouse Lisa) Tucker, Mentone; Stephanie (and spouse Scott) Bibler, Claypool; Chan (and spouse Nicole) Tucker, Mentone; Tara (and spouse Hunter) Carlile, Winona Lake; and Cheri (and spouse Andy) Mikesell, Zionsville; 15 great-grandchildren; three stepsons: Chuck (and spouse Helen), Phillip (and spouse Jeanne) and Paul (and spouse Pat) Bucher and families. She also was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles M. and Cara L. Tucker; a sister, Maxine (and spouse Joe) Ault; and a grandson, Brian D. Nelson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastors Butch Troke and Lynn Breeden officiating. Burial is in Mentone Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
