AKRON – Mary D. Weirick, 84, of Silver Lake, passed at 7:25 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, at Parkview Randallia  Hospital of Fort Wayne.

Mary was born on Dec. 22, 1937, in Kosciusko County, to the late Melvin Eugene and Ella Laverne Walters Keplinger Sr. She was married on Jan. 24, 1958, in Burket, to Paul D. Weirick, who preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2017.

Mary was a graduate of Burket High School in 1955. Mary had worked for Peabody Seating Company of North Manchester from 1969 to 1985, Warner’s of North Manchester from 1986 to 1987 and lastly Pike Lumber Company of Akron from 1987 to 1993. Mary enjoyed cooking and baking. She always had the ability to nurse sick animals back to health. But most of all she loved her family.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Weirick, of Claypool; daughter, Lee and husband Greg Kuhn, of Claypool; grandchildren: Nicole Weirick, Justin Weirick and Jessica and husband Gustavo Santian; two stepgrandchildren: Ashley Kuhn and Hannah and husband Aaron Julian; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret Conley, of Florida.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Melvin E. Keplinger Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Linda Weirick.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 at Palestine Cemetery, Palestine.

The arrangements have been entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron.
