SYRACUSE – Mary C. Hewitt, 89, of Syracuse, died at 7 p.m. Sept. 30, 2012, in her residence.
She was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Toledo, Ohio, to Nicholas and Kathryn Smitzer Isel. On Nov. 10, 1943, she married David L. Hewitt, who died Sept. 2, 1999.
She graduated from high school in Toledo. She lived in Farmington, Mich., for many years and Florida from 1984-2000 before moving to Syracuse. She was a homemaker and was raised in the Catholic church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann Grainer, Royal Oak, Mich.; a son, David (and spouse Lori) Hewitt, Syracuse; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Trepler; two sisters, Sarah Davis and Lena Hawn; and two brothers, John and Ross Isel.
Private services will be at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Fr. Richard Hire officiating. Burial will be with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, D.C. ***** Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
