NAPPANEE – Mary Alice Moore, 93, formerly of Nappanee, died at 10:40 a.m. Nov. 20, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.

She was born Nov. 29, 1917, in Kosciusko County, to James Edward and Gertrude Elizabeth Hartman George. On March 15, 1941, in Nappanee, she married Devon Moore, who died April 12, 1997.

She was a 1937 Nappanee High School graduate. She was a homemaker and farmed along with her husband for many years. She was a member of First Church of God, Nappanee, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years, served on the LOVE committee and helped prepare funeral dinners. She was a member and former state officer of the Women’s Missionary Society, a member of the Active Ladies Club and a former member of the Camp Fire Council.

Surviving are three daughters, Janet (and spouse Larry) Homan, Kay (and spouse Dallas) Yoder and Vondel (and spouse Ron) Ritchie, all of Nappanee; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Florence “Midge” Slabaugh, Nappanee. She also was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Church of God, Nappanee, with the Rev. Sam Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
