PIERCETON – Mary Alice Long,  68, of Pierceton, passed away at 9:54 a.m. Feb. 18, 2012, in Select Specialty Hospital, Fort Wayne.

She was born March 24, 1943, in Warsaw, to Delbert and Annabelle Cartwright Sievers. On Sept. 2, 1962, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Warsaw, she married Ted Eugene Long, who died in 1980.

A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, she was a 1961 graduate of Pierceton High School. She formerly worked at Medtronics, The Viewpoint, 2517 Center and operated a babysitting service. She was a member of Monroe-Washington Township (Pierceton) Fire Department Auxiliary, a former assistant leader for the Monroe Go-Getters 4-H Club, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Surviving are daughters, Markay Funnell, South Whitley, and Missy (and spouse Herman) Buckler, Wabash; a son, Trent (and spouse Angie) Long, South Whitley; two sisters, Janice (and spouse Verlin) Stayer, Warsaw, and Connie Naish, Pierceton; a brother-in-law, Tom (and spouse Ellane) Long, Warsaw; her mother-in-law, Matilda Long, Pierceton; grandchildren:  Dakota Everette Eugene and Chyanne June Funnell, both of Scottsville, Ky.; Alyson Kay and Aubrey Nicole Long, both of South Whitley; and Corbin Tyler Buckler,   Wabash; nieces and nephews, Monda (and spouse Mark) Pherigo, Tracy (and spouse Brent) Reinholt and Troy (and spouse Bonnie) Long, all of Warsaw; Chad Christoffel and Nathan (and spouse Amy) Christoffel, all of Pierceton; and Tad (and spouse Kim) Long, Ohio; and several great-nieces and -nephews. She also was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Long, and her father-in-law, Homer Long.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, with the Rev. Roy Blake officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.

Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
