Marvin J. Smith, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 13, 2018.
A resident of Warsaw, Marv, as many knew him, was born in Midland, Mich., but had spent the last 30 years in Kosciusko County.
He was born Aug. 12, 1953, and was the son of Joseph R. and Thelma J. Baker Smith. Marv was one of 10 children in the Smith family.
Marv held several local positions. Most notably, he had worked with Medcast, Country Door and Trim, and G & M Recycling. His position in salvage at G & M was fitting as he was a fan of the TV show “American Pickers” and enjoyed similar programming on Discovery Channel. He also enjoyed Pepsi (the bigger the better) and appreciated Marlboro Red cigarettes.
Although he was quiet and mostly kept to himself, Marvin was a giving, caring person who will be dearly missed.
A list of those who survives includes his daughter, Tandra Smith, Stillwater, Okla.; two brothers, John Smith, Midland, and Dick (wife Sheila) Smith, Leesburg; and two sisters, Lena Perry, Greenville, Mich., and Mary (husband Ed) Kinney, Evart, Mich. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, several of whom were like siblings.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Marvin’s family has chosen to celebrate his life privately. He will be buried with his parents in Warren Township Cemetery, Coleman, Mich.
