Continuing its year-round fundraising activites, Martin’s Supermarket in Warsaw was one of the United Way’s Pacesetter companies this year.
Despite several other fundraisers that ran concurrently with its Pacesetter campaign, including an MDA fundraiser, Martin’s was able to get 30 employees to participate.
Posting information all over the store, Kami Rhodes, communication affairs representative and Gabriel Gates, assistatn customer service manager, wanted to raise awareness of the campaign.
Martin’s plans cookouts during the summer and during its next one, they hope to have United Way there to raise funds and awarness.
Pacesetter companies are integral to helping United Wayn in its annual fundraising campaign.
With United Way funding so many programs in the county, it’s important to raise as much money as possible.
So far, Martin’s has raised $61,707 so far. That’s a $6,165 increase from 2010.
“We also encourage employees to donate their time,” said Rhodes. “WIth the economy the way it is and many of our employees being entry level, we say time is something they can donate.”
On Sept. 10, the store will host Fellowship Mission as it hosts a food drive from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
