PLYMOUTH - Marthann "Martha" Meyers, 85, of 2260 Whitetail Run, Warsaw, passed away at 3:45 a.m. Jan. 11, 2011, in her residence, following an extended illness.

She was born Dec. 31, 1925, in Plymouth, the only child of Otto K. and Edith Cummins Duddleson. Her first marriage to Bernie Eads blessed them with their only child, Darcy. On Dec. 30, 1974, she married Paul E. Meyers, who died April 16, 2002.

She grew up in the Plymouth and Warsaw areas. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School. She and Paul resided at Lawrence Lake, Plymouth, for several years before moving to Mission, Texas, in 1989.

She and Paul were avid snowbirds traveling all over the United States in their motor home. While living in Texas, she taught ceramics and oil painting. She loved to embroider and sew. After her illness, she moved to Warsaw, where she remained until her death. She was the children's librarian at the Plymouth Public Library for many years. She had just celebrated her 85th birthday with her family and was able to meet her newest great-grandchild, Dexter, born Dec. 27. She loved to dance to the big band era songs from the '40s. She loved her family, friends and music. We'd like to think she is now dancing with the angels in Heaven!

Surviving are her loving daughter, Darcy Eads Shafer, Larwill; her grandchildren, Darton Lane (and spouse Shauna) Shafer, Fort Wayne, and Destiny Lenae Shafer (and spouse Joseph) Stephens, Columbia City; five great-grandchildren, Gavyn Paul and Bryson Anthony Stephens and Payton Elise and Mallory Claire Shafer, of Columbia City, and Dexter Lee Shafer, Fort Wayne.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, with Chaplain Robert Jarboe officiating.

Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
