ROCHESTER - Martha R. Miller, 83, of 1421 Pontiac St., Rochester, died at 9:10 a.m. Sept. 14, 2009, at Clarian Arnett Hospital, Lafayette.
She was born Sept. 24, 1925, in Richmond, to William Perry and Ruth Leota Burkhart Marshall. On Feb. 19, 1949, in Richmond, she married the Rev. Donald Edward Miller.
She moved to Rochester from North Liberty in 1965. She was the Deputy Wayne County Clerk, issuing her own marriage license. She was also a cashier and bookkeeper at the Dan Cohen Shoe Store, Richmond. She retired in 1995 from Hart Schaffner Marx, Rochester after 29-1/2 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna Ann Lancaster, San Antonio, Texas; three sons: Larry (and spouse Tammy) Miller, Lafayette; Donald Jr. (and spouse Yolanda) Miller, Rochester; and William (and spouse Donna) Miller, Zanesville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Naomi Chris, Union, Ohio; a brother, Gene (and spouse Kaye) Marshall, Whittier, Calif.; and a half-brother, Ray Marshall, Frost Proof, Fla. She was preceded in death by a son, four sisters, two brothers, three stepbrothers and a stepsister.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Ron Humphrey officiating. Burial will be in Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
