Martha M. Firestone Yerger

SYRACUSE – Martha M. Firestone Yerger, 78, of Newville, Pa., formerly of Syracuse, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at her home.

She was born on Jan. 20, 1940, in Syracuse, to Louis E. and Pauline Hibschman Firestone.

She graduated from Syracuse High School, received her registered nurse diploma from Parkview Methodist School of Nursing in Fort Wayne in 1961 and worked as an RN throughout her life.

She was a member of Doubling Gap First Church of God and formerly attended the Syracuse Church of God.

She is survived by her husband, George E. Yerger of Newville; two sons, David B. (Ellen) Yerger of Indiana, Pa., and John M. (Theresa) Yerger of Brigantine Island, N.J.; four grandchildren: Elainey, Elizabeth, Lorraine and Julian Yerger; two sisters, Mary Jo (Sam) Lundy of North Webster and Peg Halsey of Syracuse; and four brothers: Jerry (Barb) Firestone of Noblesville, Thomas (Shirley) Firestone of Elkhart, Gary (Melinda) Firestone of South Bend and David Firestone of Mishawaka.

Memorial services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Syracuse Church of God, 104 E. Washington St., Syracuse, with Pastor Stan Owen officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.

Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge of local arrangements.
