Martha J. Tucker, 86, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Jan. 8, 2014, in Mason's Health & Rehabilitation, Warsaw, where she resided. She was born Dec. 22, 1927, in Silver Lake, to Donald and Edna Tschantz Thacker. She married Verle Bettinger, who died Jan. 22, 1948. She then married John T. Knowles, who died Dec. 11, 1980, and later married H. Dale Tucker, who died July 30, 2002. She was a 1945 graduate of Silver Lake High School, and lived most of her life in Warsaw. She was operations manager for Lake City Bank for 38 years. She attended Warsaw Community Church, and she was a member of Warsaw Moose Lodge and the Salvation Army Auxiliary. Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Kriner and Jackie Bettinger, both of Warsaw; two sons, Rick Bettinger, Warsaw, and Donald (and spouse Marla) Bettinger, Taiwan; a brother, Max Thacker, Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death was a stepson, Michael Knowles, who died July 20, 1998; and a stepdaughter, Patricia Seiffert, who died Feb. 28, 2001. Services will be at noon Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor E.J. Underwood of Warsaw Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
