NORTH MANCHESTER – Martha I. Rhoades, 90, of North Manchester, died at 12:02 a.m. June 23, 2011, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born Oct. 20, 1920, in North Manchester, to Homer Towey and Estella Beck. On Feb. 12, 1954, she married Wayne Rhoades, who died May 9, 1978.
She retired from Manchester Community Schools in 1989 as secretary at Manchester High School. She graduated from Laketon High School in 1938. She was co-owner with her husband of Rhoades Auto Repair, North Manchester, for many years and was a homemaker. She was a former member of ESA Chapter 1609, North Manchester. She was a member of North Manchester United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, Michael W. (and spouse Sheila) Rhoades, North Manchester; a daughter, Joyce A. Rhoades, New Castle; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Colemen.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with the Rev. Kevin DeKoninck officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
