AKRON - Martha E. Malott, 89, of 207 W. Rochester St., Akron, died at 9:15 a.m. Aug. 2, 2010, in Hickory Creek of Rochester.
She was born Jan. 29, 1921, in Crown Point, to Fred and Matilda Sonenburg Fox. On May 14, 1938, in Crown Point, he married George W. Malott, who died March 16, 1998.
She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Chamberlin Products, Akron. She attended Akron Church of God, where she was known as Mayor Martha by the pastor. She provided ministry through sending cards to many people that were always adorned with numerous stickers on the envelope.
Surviving are three daughters: Beverly (and spouse James) Humes, Noblesville; Mary (and spouse Mike) Saner, Akron; and Kandy (and spouse Dan) Keefer, Peru; two sons, William (and spouse Brenda) Malott and John (and spouse Connie) Malott, all of Akron; a daughter-in-law, Betty Malott, Winamac; a sister, Mary Franz, Portage; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, George L. Malott; two sisters, Sarah Mares and Ruby Smith; and a brother, Robert Fox.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Akron Church of God, 301 S. West St., Akron, with Pastor Terry Canfield officiating. Burial will be in Athens Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
