RICHWOOD, Ohio - Martha Dunnan Sweeney, 93, of Warsaw, and formerly of Richwood, Ohio, died Oct. 20, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
She was born Feb. 22, 1917, in Leesburg, to George and Carrie Thornburg Dunnan. On Feb. 26, 1938, she married Arthur J. Sweeney, who died April 12, 1985.
She was a former member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Marysville. She was a former volunteer for the Union County Humane Society. She was known as the "Lone Star Cowgirl" on the radio in Hamilton, Ohio.
Surviving are a son, John Wayne (and spouse Wendy) Sweeney, New Waverly; a daughter, Sonja (and spouse Jerry) Byrd, Warsaw; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood, Ohio, with Pastor Dennis Bollenbacher and Jerry Byrd officiating. Burial will be in Maskill Cemetery.
