BLUFFTON - Martha A. Mugg, 89, of 1262 Lakeview Court, Bluffton, died at 10:04 p.m. March 10, 2009, in Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 2, 1919, in Brookston, to Manford and Dena Coopman Beeker. On May 10, 1941, in Lafayette, she married John K. Mugg, who died Sept. 25, 1999.
A Wells County resident since 1941, she was a receptionist for Drs. Panos, Meade and Hamilton for 10 years and Drs. Scott and VanWinkle for 25 years. She was a member of Psi Iota Xi sorority and Busy Bees and a former member of Progressive Home Economics Club. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Alter Sadality and was active in a Bible study group. She volunteered at the Bargain Hut and Christian Care.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy Mugg, Warsaw, and Becky Shady, Glendale, Ariz.; a son, Steve (and spouse Rita) Mugg, Monroe; three grandchildren; and a sister, Maxine Frey, Lafayette.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Dale Bauman officiating. Burial will be in Six Mile Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. There will be a prayer vigil at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Scholarship Game Tonight
AKRON - Two Indianapolis Colts cheerleaders will be at the 4th Annual Hackworth-Sechrist Memorial Scholarship Basketball game tonight at Tippecanoe Valley High School from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for pictures and autographs.
There will be two games with the first starting at 6 p.m. featuring Dean Huppert and Ken Garcia from Fox 28 News, along with Rick Hummer and Valley alumni versus firemen from Akron, Burket, Mentone and Rochester.
The second game will feature the Hoopsters team (Willie 103.5, WRSW 107.3 and ESPN 1480) versus Valley faculty.
Admission is a free-will donation. Ball park concessions will be available, along with a cake raffle. All proceeds go to the Akron Las Donas Club Marcus Hackworth & Scott Sechrist Memorial Scholarship endowment through the Northern Indiana Community Foundation.
