Though not even constructed yet, Marsh Supermarkets petitioned the Kosciusko County Alcoholic Beverage Commission Thursday for a beer and wine dealer permit for Arthur's Fresh Market, South Huntington Street, Syracuse.
The permit was approved.
Arthur Marsh, chief executive officer of Marsh's Village Pantry division, told the ABC Marsh hopes to break ground on the market in the spring.
There were no remonstrators to the petition.
In another matter, the board approved Marge's Marina's petition to renew its beer and wine dealer permit and approved to hold the permit in escrow for a third year.
Bruce Miller, current owner of Marge's Marina, Diamond Lake, West Warren Avenue, Silver Lake, is selling the property on land contract to Bruce Matthews. Once Matthews has the grocery and video store up and running again, Matthews will petition to have the permit transferred into his name.
Also, the ABC approved Lakeview Liquors' dealer permit. Last month, the permit was continued because the business had a violation, but no one from Lakeview Liquors was present to address the violation.
Lakeview Liquors, 103 E. Main St., Silver Lake, had a violation of an expired employee permit.
Renewals automatically approved Thursday included:
El Arriero, North Detroit Street, Warsaw, beer, wine and liquor retailer permit.
Turf Bar, Main Street, Milford, beer and wine retailer permit.
Gropp's Fish of Stroh, Ind. 13, Syracuse, beer, wine and liquor and Sunday sales retailer permits.
CVS Pharmacy, North Detroit Street, Warsaw, beer, wine and liquor dealer permit.
Members of the ABC present at Thursday's meeting included excise officer Patty Fleck and Elim Smith. Not present were president Gordon Vanator and Kenneth Johnson.
The ABC meets at 1 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month in the county courthouse, Warsaw.
Due to the New Year's Holiday, the January meeting will be Jan. 8 instead of Jan. 1. The other ABC meetings in 2004 are Feb. 5, March 4, April 1, May 6, June 3, July 1, Aug. 5, Sept. 2, Oct. 7, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2.
