SYRACUSE — Mark R. Timpe, 65, Syracuse, passed away at 12:18 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2018, at his home.
He was born on March 29, 1953, in Elkhart, to Kenneth and Donna June Martin Timpe.
He graduated in 1971 from Concord High School, 1975 from Ball State University in Muncie, and received his master’s degree from Ball State. He grew up in Elkhart and moved to the Syracuse area the early 1980s.
He was employed from 1985 to 1991 at Wawasee High School in Syracuse, where he was taught building trades classes; Warsaw High School; and was a coach in Muncie. He was a coach for the girls softball and golf teams at Wawasee High School for several years and was also a licensed real estate agent.
He was a member of Eagles Lodge FOE 3760 and American Legion Post 223, both in Syracuse; VFW in Goshen; Ball State University fraternity; and an avid golfer.
He is survived by a son, Eric Nord, Elkhart; his mother, Donna Timpe, Elkhart; a brother, Mike (Becky) Timpe, Vicksburg, Mich.; two nephews; six great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw.
A celebration of life gathering will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, in the Eagles Lodge, 12889 N. Kern Road, Syracuse.
Private family burial will take place in the Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.
