Marjorie L. Chappell, 89, of Winona Lake, died at 9 a.m. June 9, 2011, in Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake.
She was born Jan. 14, 1922, in Arapaho, Colo., to Leanord Bush and Francis Sly Rich. On July 22, 1945, in Bario-Tanauan Commonwealth of Philippines, she married Paul E. Chappell, who died in 2001.
A Winona Lake resident since 1969, she was a homemaker and was a former librarian at Grace College, Winona Lake.
She was a member of Community Bible Church, Warsaw. She served in the U.S. Army as a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Surviving are a daughter, Judith Childers, Warsaw; four sons: Richard Chappell, Battle Mountain, Nev.; Donald and Charles Chappell, both of Winona Lake; and Thomas Chappell, Mansfield, Texas; two sisters, Maxine and Beatrice; two brothers, Jerold and Bob; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, five brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. July 6 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Richard Chappell officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
