Marion Woman Died In Weekend Fatality

A 50-year-old Marion woman died in a crash Saturday night on Ind. 15 near Claypool and has been identified by police.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Chris Francis said police responded at 10:23 p.m. Saturday to Ind. 15, north of CR 550S in Clay Township to a head-on collision.

According to the preliminary results of the ongoing investigation by the KCSO Fatal Team, James C. Lewis, 44, of Elkhart, was driving a 2005 Ford Explorer north on Ind. 15 and crossed over the center line.

Lewis’ vehicle collided with a southbound 1998 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Donald G. Galbraith, 48, of Marion.

Sandra K. Galbraith, 50, of Marion, was a passenger in the Suburban and pronounced dead at the scene.

Donald Galbraith was extricated by firefighters and taken by Lutheran Air to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for upper leg pain.

Lewis was taken by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for entire body pain.

KCSO was assisted at the scene by Claypool and Warsaw police departments, Claypool Fire Department, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Silver Lake Fire Department, Lutheran EMS, Lutheran Air Ambulance and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.
