Marilyn Jean (Carr) Bibler, 85, of Warsaw, passed away on March 14, 2014, at 8:20 a.m. at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw, from cancer. She was born May 19, 1928, in Hartford City, to Russell Guy Carr and Catherine Elizabeth (Morris) Carr Hood. On October 31, 1954, in Orlando, Fla., she was married to William “Bill” Blaine Bibler who preceded her in death on August 26, 2012, after 58 years of marriage. Growing up she lived in nine different cities as her father operated the family business: the Morris 5 and 10 Dime Store. She loved spending summers at their cottage on Lake Wawasee. Upon graduation from Winchester High School in 1946, she attended Christian College in Columbia, Mo., and Brenau College. Throughout the years, she worked at the Morris Dime Store, McCrory’s Dime Store, Penn Electric in Goshen, and Duval Jewelry Co. and GE Credit Corp., both in Florida. A member of this community for 60 years, she loved being a Brownie leader, sang in the church choir, was a member of Eastern Star #60 Winchester, and the Women of the Moose. She was a member of Pierceton Presbyterian Church and a former member of Warsaw Presbyterian Church. She served the community as a member of Tri Kappa and a board member of the Kosciusko County Special Olympics. Family meant everything to her. She had fond memories of growing up with her cousins and grandparents. She adored her only niece and nephews and loved following her grandchildren’s activities. She enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, big band music, ballroom dancing, writing, and genealogy; having traced her family back more than 8 generations. Over the past year, she wrote both her and Bill’s life stories. She was also a huge basketball fan and loved UNC and the Pacers as well as Notre Dame football. She will be fondly remembered for her strength and resilience while enduring the adversities of life. In her honor, stop by her favorite soda fountain at Zales Drug Store in Warsaw and enjoy a great lunch as she did for many years. She is survived by her two daughters, Shari (and spouse Tom) Skaggs and Sandy Bibler, both of Winona Lake; a son, William “Bill” R. (and spouse Benita) Bibler Winona Lake; seven grandchildren: Tyler Skaggs, Chicago; Kelsay Skaggs, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Ashley Skaggs, Decatur, Ill.; Kylie Skaggs, Winona Lake; Rachel Bibler, West Lafayette; William C. “Will” Bibler and Grant Bibler, Winona Lake; as well as a niece, five nephews, one great-niece, and five great-nephews. She also leaves behind a sister, Betty (and spouse John) Cardwell, Fort Myers, Fla.; and her brother, Harold “Butch” (and spouse Carol) Carr, Orlando, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter, Kathryn Irene Bibler on December 16, 1969. Her funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Dr. John Davis. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Calling will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
