NORTH MANCHESTER — Marilyn H. McDonald, 83, Silver Lake, died at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 13, 2017, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester. 

She was born July 31, 1934, in Central City, Neb., to Hubert and Perna Widman Hammons.

She married her sweetheart, Jack N. McDonald, on May 3, 1953, in Noblesville. He survives.

She was a homemaker and a member of North Manchester Missionary Church.

She graduated from Anderson High School in 1952. She was a loving wife and mother to her three sons and their wives. She was a fun grandma to her six grandchildren and will be fondly remembered  for her one-liners, laughter and her ability to whip up a meal in minutes.  

Many will remember Marilyn for her beautiful cakes, especially her wedding cakes, which she created for over 40 years.  

She will be missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Brenton (Tabatha) McDonald, Silver Lake, and Trenton (Marilyn) McDonald, Silver Lake; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl McDonald, Warsaw; and six grandchildren: Justin (Tabitha) McDonald, Warsaw; Melissa McDonald, Winona Lake; Ethan McDonald, Zionsville; Logan McDonald, Akron; Tyler McDonald, Silver Lake; and Jacob McDonald, Silver Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Kenton McDonald.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester. Pastor Ken Sistrunk and Pastor Dan Binkley will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Calling is from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at the mortuary.
