COLUMBIA CITY – Mariann Evelyn Hicks, 58, Columbia City, passed away unexpectedly at 2:50 a.m. Aug. 2, 2015, at Highland Regional Medical Center, Sebring, Fla. She was born Oct. 4, 1956, in Havelock, N.C., to Blanche Marie Roy Shatzer. On April 28, 1990, in Columbia City, she married Eldon “Gene” Hicks, who survives. They were married for 25 years. She was raised in Fort Wayne and graduated from Wayne High School with the class of 1975. Along with being a homemaker, she also had worked with the Noble and Whitley county hospitals. She had a big and loving heart who loved her family. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and shopping. Also surviving are, five children: Nicole (and spouse David) Taylor and Gena Hicks, all of Roanoke; Aaron (and spouse Angie) Hill, Fishers; Miriah and Kira Hicks, both of Columbia City; her mother, Marie Shatzer; three sisters: Melissa (and spouse Dan) Fogel and Kirsten Revett, all of Fort Wayne, and Gretchen Revett, Wisconsin; and four grandchildren, Sean, Bryce, Sydney and Abel. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kaylee Hicks, in 1997 and dad, Robert Shatzer. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with the Rev. Mark Wagner officiating. Burial is in Union Township Cemetery.
