Marguerite A. Pippenger Iffert Umbaugh

GOSHEN - Marguerite A. Pippenger Iffert Umbaugh, 93, of 2400 College Ave., Goshen, and formerly of 1202 S. 14th St., Goshen, died at 4:15 a.m. Nov. 18, 2007, in Courtyard Healthcare of Goshen.

She was born Oct. 24, 1914, in Warsaw, to Rex and Hazel Banghart Richcreek. On June 10, 1934, she married Victor Pippenger, who died May 19, 1945. On Jan. 16, 1953, she married Daniel Iffert, who died Jan. 1, 1977. On Jan. 21, 1978, she married Harold D. Umbaugh, who died July 7, 1999.

A longtime Elkhart County resident, she was a homemaker and a 1932 Nappanee High School graduate. She was a member of Union Center Church of the Brethren, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years. She formerly volunteered at Elkhart General Hospital as a "play lady," one who spent quality time with ill children.

Surviving are five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a sister and a brother.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Union Center Church of the Brethren with Pastors Stan Godfrey officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery, Nappanee.

Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
