LAFAYETTE – Margaret V. McDowell, 76, of Lafayette, died at 2:34 a.m. Oct. 8, 2013, at I.U. Arnett Hospital.
She was born Nov. 17, 1936, in Delphi to George and Daisy VanOstran, who preceded her in death. She married Eugene McDowell at St. Boniface Church, Lafayette, who also preceded her in death.
She graduated from Pittsburgh High School, and received her bachelor’s degree in business from Indiana Wesleyan University. She retired as a systems analyst from Wabash National. She enjoyed sewing, baking and being a big sister for the Boys and Girls Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Jennifer (and spouse Brent) Bohan, Granger; a son, Daniel McDowell, Germany; and a sister, Violet Hobbs, Wellesley, Mass.; four grandchildren: James Bohan, Lafayette; Sara and Thomas Bohan, both of Michigan; and John Bohan, Granger. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Mary VanOstran, and a brother, Verlin VanOstran.
Services will be a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Boniface Church with Fr. Clayton Thomas officiating. Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery.
Calling will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette.
