Margaret Petro Lancaster Like

Posted
Margaret Petro Lancaster Like passed away peacefully in her Sebring, Fla., home on May 22, 2018, at the age of 95.

Born May 7, 1923, in South Bend, she was the daughter of Nellie Poland and William Petro Sr. She was a loving sister to Marjorie Petro Mitterling, Marie Petro Fisher and William Petro Jr., who all predeceased her.

In 1946 she married Glenn Franklin Lancaster, and together they were the proud proprietors of Petro’s Restaurant and Motel, a local landmark in the Warsaw community for many years. Glenn passed away in 1986.

A longtime resident of Warsaw, she was a member of the Warsaw High School class of 1941, and just two years ago enjoyed their 75th class reunion with many dear friends.  Margaret was an early member of Rozella Ford Golf Course and of Tippecanoe Country Club.

She was later married to Jasper Like, who preceded her in death.

Margaret was an avid golfer, having made three holes-in-one within a five-year period and shot her age when she was 84. She was also an accomplished bridge player, reaching the Life Master level many years ago. Anyone who knew her was aware of her fierce competitive nature.

Most of all Margaret loved her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children: Greg Lancaster, Florida; Cristy (George) Lancaster Schnauffer, Fairfield, Conn.; and Becky (Scott) Lancaster Frazier, Discovery Bay, Calif.; four grandchildren: Gary (Sarah) Lancaster, Feltwell, Norfolk, England; Jim (Jennifer) Lancaster, Winona Lake; Jennifer (Andy) Burnette, Plainfield; and Amy Schnauffer Brennan, Rye, N.Y.; 11 great-grandchildren; and five nieces and six nephews.

Margaret had a unique love for life and as anyone that knew her would attest, certainly lived life to the fullest.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will occur at a future date in Warsaw.

Burial has taken place in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Services are entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
