Margaret "Peg" Knoop, 85, of Grace Village Retirement Community and Health Care, and formerly of Bedford, went to be with her Lord at 2:45 a.m. May 22, 2010.
She was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Springville, to Aldyce and Blanche Moore Jackson, the 10th of 10 children. She was adopted and raised by her aunt and uncle, Gilbert and Nettie Jackson Kern. On March 3, 1946, in Long Beach, Calif., she married Lowell W. Knoop, who survives.
She graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1942, and did secretarial work at Purdue University. During World War II, she worked for ALCOA Aluminum Co., Lafayette, later becoming a homemaker. She and Lowell were active in Lay Witness Missions for 12 years and were most recently members of the Warsaw Church of God.
She lived in Warsaw from 1953-63, then resided in Lafayette and Bedford, before returning to Grace Village in Winona Lake five years ago.
Also surviving are two sons, Gilbert (and spouse Janis Pritchard) Knoop, Claypool; and Richard (and Denis Cline) Knoop, Florissant, Mo.; two grandsons, Samuel (and spouse Rachael Leiter) Knoop, and Benjamin (and spouse Lauren Ratz) Koontz; a granddaughter, Aimee Knoop (and spouse Jason) Crowe; five great-grandchildren; Jacob, Delaney and Amelia Knoop and Gabrielle and Gracey Crowe; and a brother, Robert Jackson, Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, three brothers and a stepsister.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Pastors Ralph Porter and Jerry Yoder officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
