LEESBURG – Perhaps the most entertaining United Way Pacesetter event took place in the gym at Maple Leaf Farms’ corporate headquarters Monday afternoon.
Maple Leaf employees in inflatable sumo suits battled it out in four matches.
The main event was between co-presidents and brothers Scott and John Tucker.
In maybe the most ballyhooed brotherly showdown since Cain v. Abel, the two men donned sumo suits to the joy of their employees.
That event alone raised $442. That money along with other money raised by Maple Leaf Farms will go to the United Way.
The main event also had a special referee in sister Tricia Tucker-Rice.
Maple Leaf Farms is one of several pacesetters this year for the United Way’s annual fundraising campaign.
United Way funds more than 70 projects that help people in Kosciusko County each year.
Along with the sumo event, Maple Leaf is also holding euchre and cornhole tournaments, a Maple Leaf’s Got Talent show and a duck barbecue.
