My friend, Mr. Eppenbaugh, opened this can of worms about Wilson and Goebbels whereabouts by making a ridiculous statement based on absolutely nothing. When taken to task to explain this bit of nonsense, he gets a bit testy. I don't know where the hell these two people are, and neither does he.
Mr. Eppenbaugh goes on to state that SEIU's Andy Stern was the most frequent visitor to the White House. As usual, Mr. Eppenbaugh, in parroting Glennzilla, chose to cherry-pick and manipulate information to suit his own propaganda. Corporations do in fact run this country by purchasing congressional and senatorial elections, in addition to the White House. Corporations have outsourced our jobs for 50-cents-an-hour labor, they have bought deregulation and poisoned our environment, paid off regulatory agencies to look the other way while they bend, break and ignore laws. They have bought tax breaks and moved their headquarters overseas to avoid paying any taxes at all. In fact, Mr. Eppenbaugh goes on to state that BP purchased favors in order to circumvent regulations, again sending a mixed message. And no, the Patriot Act is not a Progressive ideal. Those of us in the Progressive community did and still do detest the Patriot Act.
In Mr. Eppenbaugh's America, the elderly, disabled, children and anyone not able to fend for themselves would be left to die in the streets, deprived of all dignity. My time is wasted attempting to inspire any sense of caring and compassion in someone so mean spirited and heartless. Therefore, I'm afraid we will have to agree to disagree. I do not want to live in Mr. Eppenbaugh's America and he obviously does not want to live in mine. In my humble opinion, if we cannot preserve the dignity of our citizens then the nation itself is no longer worth saving.
The only comment I have for my old friend, "Miz" Torpy's latest rant in which she complained about Vice-President Biden's salty language, is to remind her of former Vice President Cheney's comment to Senator Patrick Leahy. On the floor of the once-revered United States Senate Chamber, Vice President Cheney told Senator Leahy to go perform an anatomically impossible act upon himself (paraphrased in the interest of a family newspaper). In "Miz" Torpy's mind, I guess that's pretty classy.
