Featuring Manic Drive and special guests Burning Yesterday, Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church is having a free Christian rock concert Wednesday.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m.
Manic Drive hails from Toronto, Canada, and Burning Yesterday comes from Nashville, Tenn.
Concert organizer Jeff Murphy said Manic Drive performed at the church two years ago to help promote the Pro-Life Music Festival. Murphy made a connection through the band.
"It was a good event two years ago," said Murphy in an interview Tuesday afternoon.
Manic Drive e-mailed Murphy and said they wouldn't mind coming back. After some scheduling details were ironed out, the concert was set for Wednesday in the church's gym.
Manic Drive has released two CDs and a third CD which is a re-release of the second CD and four additional songs. Burning Yesterday has released one CD. The two bands are currently touring together as part of Manic Drive's "Blue" tour.
Manic Drive has opened up for some of Christian rock's most talented bands, according to information provided, including Seventh Day Slumber and more recently Stryper.
Even though Murphy said the good Christian music will be rocking, there is a higher purpose for the concert. He said the purpose is "to have fun, to share the good news of Jesus Christ with youth and people like me who like Christian rock."
With youth being pulled in a variety of different directions by different forces, Manic Drive and Burning Yesterday will try to help lead youth to Christ.
"I think they'll really look up to these bands," Murphy said.
Anyone going to the free concert should enter through the southeast doors, according to Youth Director Dave McBeath. The bands will sell their own merchandise at the concert. For more information about the free concert, call McBeath at 574-267-7044; or Murphy at 574-453-7364.
"Everyone is welcome," said Murphy. "Bring your friends. Bring your family. It will be an awesome event, non-stop fun."
