Eighteen players have been selected for the IndyStar Indiana boys Junior All-Stars for 2016, and among them is Warsaw Community High School junior Kyle Mangas. Mangas, who led the Tigers to a 25-2 record that included Northern Lakes Conference, sectional and regional championships, will play for the North Junior All-Stars. The Juniors will play the Indiana All-Stars in exhibition games to prepare the seniors for their annual summer series with the Kentucky All-Stars. Mangas scored 523 points this season, averaging 19.4 points per game for the Tigers. He is just the 15th player in Warsaw history to score 500 points in a season, and his 523 points this season is the 13th-best single-season total in school history. Mangas has scored 817 points in his varsity career and is well on his way to becoming just the 12th player to score 1,000 points in a Warsaw uniform. Players in the Core Group that will play in both the north and south exhibition games include Jaren Jackson Jr. of Park Tudor, Jack Nunge of Castle, Paul Scruggs of Southport, Sasha Stefanovic of Crown Point, Kris Wilkes of North Central and Malik Williams of Fort Wayne Snider. The North Group players are Jalen Adaway of Logansport, Jaylen Butz of Fort Wayne North, Jermaine Couisnard of East Chicago Central, Parker Hazen of Columbia City, Tyler Smith of Northeastern, and Mangas. The South Group players are Michael Ertel of Mt. Vernon (Fortville), Zach Gunn of Hamilton Southeastern, Isaac Hibbard of New Albany, Jaylen Minnett of Terre Haute South, Cooper Neese of Cloverdale and Justin Roberts of Pike. The coaches for the Junior All-Stars have not yet been announced. The Junior All-Stars will play two games against the IndyStar Indiana All-Star senior boys. Those games tentatively are set for June 7 and June 9 at sites to be announced later. Both dates will be doubleheaders with the Indiana Junior All-Star girls playing the Indiana All-Star senior girls in the first game. The girls games will begin at 6 p.m., with the boys games to follow. The players listed as core group players will play in both games. The players listed as North Group players will join the Core Group for one game, and the players listed as South Group players will join the Core Group for the other game. It is not yet known which date will include the North and South players. The Indiana All-Stars will play the Kentucky All-Stars on June 11 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and on June 12 at Bellarmine University in Louisville.
