NORTH MANCHESTER – Manchester University, which usually hosts the town’s annual Fourth of July fireworks display, is collaborating with Manchester Community Schools and the town to present a 2020 Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks display on July 4. The rain date is July 5.
“We had to move the fireworks from Manchester University this year, in large part because the new stadium area is still a construction zone,” Alexis Young, who coordinates the event for the university, said. “We are happy to work with Jeremy Markham at Manchester Community Schools and Adam Penrod with the town to make this patriotic event happen for our community.”?
The event is free and begins at 9 p.m. with a performance by the Manchester Civic Band. Families and individuals are encouraged to come early to find a spot, maintain social distancing and have a great time.
Parking is available at Manchester High School, the Administrative Building and the Manchester Recreation Association. The Rotary Club will be selling food, water and soft drinks. The fireworks will be lit off by the North Manchester Fire Department at 10 p.m. over the high school’s baseball field.
No alcohol, sparklers or personal fireworks are permitted. There will be no children’s activities this year.
