Manchester, Whitko Compete At Wrestling Sectionals

PERU — The Manchester wrestling team had three champions at Saturday’s Peru Sectional, helping the Squires finish second overall. The host Peru Tigers won the eight-team sectional with 260.5 points, while Manchester was second with 195. Along with Bryce Zook (106 pounds), Neil Snep (182) and Cole Sellers (285) all winning sectional titles, Manchester’s Tristan Burnette (113, 4th place), Jerod Gable (120, 3rd), Clayton Moore (126, 2nd), Ryan Kendall (132, 3rd) and Thad Miller (220, 2nd) all advanced to Saturday’s Peru Regional by finishing in the top four. The regional begins at 9 a.m., with top four qualifiers moving on to the Fort Wayne Snider Semistate the following week. Saturday in Fort Wayne
While the hosting Carroll Chargers won Saturday’s wrestling sectional, the Whitko Wildcats advanced six on to the Carroll Regional this Saturday, by placing in the top four. Whitko scored 96 points at the sectional, good for sixth at the 10-team tournament. Individually, Whitko’s Greg Newman (113 pounds, 2nd place), Lane Wolf (120, 3rd), Evan Cozad (126, 3rd), Colton LeTourneau (132, 3rd), Cole Findley (138, 4th) and Kuyler Bailey (145, 3rd) all moved on to the regional.
