Manchester, Wawasee Battle To Tie

Posted
NORTH MANCHESTER – In what Manchester coach Jacqui Erny described as a back-and-forth game, her Lady Squires battled Manchester to a 1-1 tie in girls soccer action Tuesday afternoon.
“It was a back-and-forth game,” said Erny. “Both teams had good looks at the goal but neither could finish in the second half. We had moments of pure genius and we had moments of lazy soccer. It was frustrating and exciting to watch this game. I really thought we could’ve won, but at the same time they could’ve as well. I guess a tie is almost an appropriate way to end it, as frustrating as it may be.”
The host Lady Squires took a 1-0 lead on a goal by junior Hayleigh Collett in the 32nd minute of action.
The Lady Warriors evened things on the scoreboard six minutes later with a goal from senior Lexy Blunk.
With the tie, Manchester’s season record is now 0-0-2, while Wawasee is 2-1-1.
The Lady Squires are in action again Thursday at Oak Hill.
The Lady Warriors host Northern Lakes Conference opponent Concord Saturday.
