NORTH MANCHESTER – Out of the storybooks and into an enchanted forest, Manchester University Theatre presents “Into the Woods,” a fairy tale that delves into need, drama and desire. Performances are 7:30 p.m. April 15 and 16, and at 2 p.m. April 17 in Cordier Auditorium. “Into the Woods” is a Tony Award-winning, Broadway musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine. The musical fairy tale, which was also made into a movie, intertwines the lives and stories of Brothers Grimm characters. The main characters are taken from “Little Red Riding Hood,” “Jack and the Beanstalk,” “Rapunzel” and “Cinderella.” All are bound together by an original story about a baker and his wife who wish to begin a family. Tickets for the public are $10 for adults and $7 for students. Manchester University students are admitted for free with ID. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
