Manchester Town Council Approves Rezoning Of Church Building

NORTH MANCHESTER – At Wednesday night's meeting, the North Manchester Town Council approved the low-density residential rezoning of the 1002 Ind. 114 E. property, formerly the Christian Fellowship Church.
The property was purchased by Kimberly Pohler, of Pohler Financial, who spoke to the council about her plans for the building. At this time Pohler's plan is to renovate the church into several single-family housing units at 800 square feet each.
Ahead of the meeting, the council held a public hearing for the town's sewer rate ordinance, which would introduce a rate increase from $26.16 per 1,000 gallons to $30.40 in phase one, then $36.25 in phase two. There were no public comments during the hearing.
Council approved the sewer rate ordinance on second reading, with the third reading to be held at the September meeting.
Council approved the affordable housing fund creation ordinance on third and final reading.
In other business, the council:
• Heard the South Market Street bridge should be open the week of Aug. 24.
• Approved a street closure from 3 to 11 p.m. on Market Street for the Hispanic Heritage Fest at Warvel Park on Sept. 18.
• Approved a $53,947.96 quote for SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) units for the fire department.
Council will next meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 2.
