Manchester Tennis Leads Roundup By Repeating As TRC Champs

ROCHESTER — The Manchester boys tennis team repeated as Three Rivers Conference champions with a 4-1 victory at Rochester Monday. “This has been a great season filled with much success,” Manchester head coach Joel Eichenauer said. “We reached a higher level of play this year and comfortably won each conference matchup. Tonight, I saw guys playing some of their best tennis of the season.” The win ends Manchester’s TRC season and 4-0 and its 13-2 overall. In the regular season finale, Connor Eichenauer and Max Karg each won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively. At doubles, Manchester’s Noah Cain and Branden Scott won 6-2, 6-1 No. 1 and it’s No. 2 team of Brayton Spann and Matthew Pegg grabbed a 6-0, 6-2 victory. The Squires will now look to repeat as Peru Sectional champions, facing the Peru Tigers in the opening match Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. MANCHESTER 4, ROCHESTER 1 SINGLES: No. 1 – Connor Eichenauer (M) def. At Tippecanoe’s Potawatomi Wildlife Park Monday, the host Triton boys cross country was beaten by John Glenn (30-41), but did defeat Jimtown (41-49). For the Trojans, Derek Johnston was third in 18:01, with Landon Kaufman placing sixth (19:11) and Bailey Watkins finishing seventh (19:19). The Triton girls cross country team was defeated 25-42 by Jimtown Monday at Tippecanoe’s Potawatomi Wildlife Park. John Glenn’s Ashley Burnett won the meet in 22:01, but didn’t have any other runners on her team to get a score. For Triton, Bailey McIntire finished third in 24:12, followed by teammate Makayla Musilli in the fourth (24:18). The Lady Trojans will be at Saturday’s Northern State Conference Meet at New Prairie. For the Squires, Colin McNeeley got two goals, his 20th and 21st of the season, while Braydon Sewell, Chaneynn Giddens, Nathan Self and Cody Egner also scored. The Squires travel to Winamac for a match today. Getting a goal from Sarah Lancaster with 11 minutes remaining, the Wawasee girls soccer team posted a 1-0 victory at Whitko Monday. Lancaster’s goal came off a miss by Leigh-Ann Shrack, and helped improve the Lady Warriors to 2-12 going into today’s home match against Elkhart Memorial.
