NORTH MANCHESTER - Sewer rates will increase in North Manchester beginning in June.
Tuesday evening at the regular meeting, the North Manchester Town Council approved General Ordinance No. 3, increasing the town's sewer rates.
The town's minimum 3,000-gallon rate will increase $4.30. The flat fee for having a meter outside the corporation will increase to $17.20.
In other business, the council:
Approved the renewal of tax abatements for Oji Intertech, Fellowship Housing and Blocher Family Partnership. The companies each met compliance requirements for the continuation of their current abatements.
Approved General Ordinance No. 2 to make South River Road a one-way street during specified school hours to better facilitate school traffic.
Heard an Arbor Day Proclamation from town council President Dan Rinearson. Arbor Day is April 28, and all North Manchester residents are encouraged to plant a tree in celebration.
Gave Town Manager Dan Hannaford permission to work on getting bids for trash contracts. The town's current contract expires July 1.
Heard town clean-up day will be April 24. Although all debris will not be picked up that day, all residents are urged to have their items out that day. Town employees will only go through area once, and if rubbish is not out, they will not return to pick it up.
Town Council members are Chris Garber, Diana Haupert, Don Rinearson, Stan Escott and Laura Rager. Town manager is Dan Hannaford, secretary-treasurer is Nancy Reed and town attorney is Charles Tiede.
