Sturtsman, Squires Blank Taylor For 3rd Win Of The Season

NORTH MANCHESTER – Junior righthander Hayes Sturtsman tossed a complete-game two-hitter in Manchester’s 6-0 win over visiting Taylor in a non-conference baseball game Wednesday night.
Sturtsman threw 80 pitches in seven innings, striking out seven and hitting a batter.
David McAtee tripled, singled and drove in two runs to pace the Squire offense.
“We played a pretty solid game with good defense,” said Manchester coach Jack Rupley. “Taylor gave us some opportunities and we were able to take advantage. David had a solid game and Hayes pitched well.”
Now 3-1 on the season, Manchester will play at Eastern in Greentown on Friday.

Manchester Blanks Lady Eagles 12-0 On The Road
CHURUBUSCO – Mattie McKee pitched six innings of shutout ball in Manchester’s 12-0, run-rule shortened win over Churubusco in a non-conference softball game Wednesday night.
Erika Kendall, Cierra Carter and Brooklyn Howard had two hits each for the Lady Squires. Manchester has outscored its opponents 29-0 in its first two games of the season.
Next up for Manchester is a visit from Wawasee Friday evening.

Lady Squires Win Big
COLUMBIA CITY – Manchester opened its girls tennis season with a 5-0 win over host Columbia City Wednesday.
Sisters Karly and Kelsey Eichenauer each won without dropping a game at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Leiah Brandenburg dropped just two games in the first set in her win at No. 2 singles.
Both doubles teams, Bethany Collett and Lydia Little at No. 1 and Kendra Auler and Elizabeth Anguilm at No. 2, won in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.
The Lady Squire junior varsity won eight of nine matches played.
Manchester opens Three Rivers Comference play today when it travels to Wabash.

Squire Golf Beats Wabash
NORTH MANCHESTER – Harley Kruschwitz shot a 37 to lead Manchester to a 182-210 win over visiting Wabash in the Squires’ first boys golf match of the season Wednesday at Sycamore Golf Club.
Nathan Self posted a 43 and Parker Wagoner had a 47 for the Squires. Konrad Borgmann and Klayton Hendrix shot 55 and 57, respectively for Manchester.
The Squires will host Churubusco in a non-conference match April 21.
