NORTH MANCHESTER – The Building Department for the Town of North Manchester receives numerous calls asking if a building permit is needed for a specific project. In general here are a few projects that would require obtaining a building permit: an addition to a building, remodeling work that involves load-bearing walls, new electrical or plumbing that will cost more than $1,500. Projects such as storage buildings, in-ground and above-ground swimming pools, and wooden decks also require obtaining a building permit. The minimum cost is $20. The cost of the permit can be more depending on the size of the project. For information, call Building Commissioner Bernie Ferringer at 260-901-3323
